High-Altitude Operation

At altitude, reduced air density affects cooling performance. Fans displace less mass flow, even if volume flow remains constant.

Key Considerations:

● Derating: At 10,000 ft (~3,048 m), air density drops to ~70% of sea level.

● Correction Formula: Where is air density (kg/m³)

● Air Density Formula:

    o : air pressure (Pa)

o : specific gas constant for dry air

    o : temperature (Kelvin)

Note: Typical operational ceilings for combat jets range between 30,000 and 60,000 ft.
